Spey Tuners
2026 TUNER DATES
May 20th Weds (5 spots)
Aug 25th Tues (5 spots)
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from years of teaching Spey, it’s that everyone has a limit to how much they can absorb in a single session. Spey casting can feel like drinking from a firehose—lots of information, all at once. Real progress happens when you step away, practice, repeat, and return ready for the next layer. My goal is to break things into digestible pieces while still pushing each angler to their full potential.
This class is designed exclusively for graduates of my two-day program. Many anglers return for the full-on Spey camp, but the Tuner offers a focused, cost-effective, efficient way to continue learning and sharpen fundamentals. Because everyone in the group shares the same foundation and vocabulary, we can move quickly and build on what you already know.
The Spey Tuner is a one-day class held from 8 AM to 5 PM at McKinnon Flats. The day includes review, demos, discussions, new casts and concepts, and plenty of hands-on practice. I provide lunch, and I encourage you to bring any new gear so we can test line setups and fine-tune performance. It also helps to arrive with a goal or specific skills you’d like to focus on.
I am always refining how I teach Spey—finding new ways to explain concepts, new drills, and better paths to consistency. The Spey Tuner is the perfect tune-up before a trip or a great way to stay sharp throughout the season.
