Whether anglers are trying out Spey casting to see if they enjoy it or preparing for an upcoming trip, this program helps them elevate their Spey game. Classes are limited to 5–6 students. Whether someone has never touched a Spey rod or is a seasoned veteran, there is a place for every skill level.

Successful Spey fishing, whether for trout or steelhead, encompasses many skills. The instructors spend much of their year guiding and fishing for salmon, steelhead, and trout, giving them exposure to a wide range of successes and failures—both their own and those of their clients. Over time, they have identified common patterns and now use them as valuable teaching tools. These camps aren’t just about casting; the program is designed to deepen students’ understanding of Skagit casting. Instruction is broken into easy-to-digest portions with a compelling blend of teaching and hands-on practice. Participants can expect to work on new skills, swing concepts, demonstrations, equipment demystification, and theory. A two-day format is preferred to thoroughly cover the material. The instructors create a comfortable, fun learning environment and provide a framework that helps each participant become a successful and effective Spey angler.

More and more seasoned anglers and casters are attending the Spey Camps. What began as a trip-preparation or general-overview course has evolved into a more robust and multifaceted program. Experienced casters and anglers often find great value in the curriculum because they have reached a plateau in their casting and fishing. The camps welcome all experience levels, and the mix of backgrounds within each group often enhances the experience for everyone.

The FFFC camp accommodations include spacious canvas wall tents outfitted with comfortable cots and plush sleeping pads. The camp features an outdoor shower with a privacy shelter and a Cleanwaste portable toilet system.

These camps offer a comfortable, educational getaway where everything is taken care of—fantastic meals, a beautiful riverside camp, fireside discussions, and genuine camaraderie.
